#EndSARSNow: Nigeria’s Flutterwave Opens Fund To Support Protesters, Donates 2Million Naira

Nigerian fintech, Flutterwave Inc’s Chief Executive Officer, Olusola Agboola, has taken to his verified Twitter handle to announce the opening of a public fund to support and cater to those injured during the ongoing nationwide protests calling for the dissolution of Nigeria’s Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS).

This is sequel to peaked frustrations of the Nigerian populace against the dreaded arm of the Nigeria Police Force, who have been reported to have formed a habit of intimidating, extorting, assaulting, raping and murdering Nigerian youth.

In a show of solidarity, Flutterwave’s CEO opened the fund to the public for donations to support the cause after the company’s staff had already pooled N2 million into the fund.

Several other reputable institutions and companies in the country are expected to follow Flutterwave’s example and pitch in with support for the cause.

Nigeria In Focus:

Population – 206.6 million (Compared to South Africa’s 59.6 million)

GDP: $504.57 billion (Compared to South Africa’s $369.85 billion)

GDP Per Capita: $2,465 (Compared to South Africa’s $6,193)
