Nigerian Afro beats singer Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy became won his first Grammy award on the 14 of March 2021 and was welcomed with open heart and arms by the Government and people of Rivers State, his home state, where a concert was organized for him on Saturday 27 March, 2021.
The album’Twice As Tall’ which was released in 2020 earned him the award in the’Best Global Music Album’ category for the 63rd Grammy Awards. The Rivers State Government organized the event to honor his global musical achievements.
The event took place at the EUI Event Centre Sani Abacha Road GRA, Port Harcourt. Asides the Grammy award winner, present was Duncan Mighty, Timaya, Omah Lay, and Nissi who also performed.
The event garnered a lot of social media buzz as the Governor of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike promised the guest performing artists a sum of 10 Million Naira almost ($24,000) .
