The 100 Women & 100 Talks of SME 100Africa launches the maiden edition of its #PadUpAGirl Campaign for adolescent girls in the Ajegunle Community of Lagos State, on Friday, May 27th, 2022.

Mr. Charles Odii, the Founder of SME100 Africa.

The campaign was launched to commemorate World Menstrual Hygiene Day, and to improve the quality of lives of adolescent girls in underserved communities, who are often vulnerable to mental/ emotional abuse, infections, child marriage or domestic violence because they are unable to afford hygienic sanitary towels. These girls are also likely to become school dropouts, and resort to using banana leaves, cartons, old clothes or tissue papers during their menstrual cycles.  The 100 Women desk believes that periods don’t have to be death sentences, hence why they have decided to dedicate time and resources to changing the realities of these girls.

The outreach will feature: Menstrual Hygiene & SRHR sessions, career development sessions, and Q& A sessions, after which the distribution of sanitary pads, 100 Talks magazines, toilet soaps, Food packs and COVID-19 relief materials will follow through.
