On March 24, 2023, SME100AFRICA held the 8th iteration of the International Women’s Day conference, which was held virtually.
The keynote address was given by Rashidat Adebisi, CCO of AXA MANSARD, on sustainable innovation and a gender equal future in technology and how it helps reinforce learning. The session began with an introduction and agenda setting by Ume-Ezeoke Stephanie, Head of 100Talksng, on behalf of 100WomenNG. Sonia Uchenna, the SME100AFRICA representative, spoke next on the 100womenXSHEFORSHIELD Mentoring series.
AXAMANSARD discussed their funds, plans, and pitch competitions for women with the audience. Oluwayemisi Toni Akinola (Head of Online Brand Management and Women’s Initiative), speaking on behalf of Jumoke Odunlami, Chief Customer and Marketing Officer at AXAMANSARD, gave the opening presentation on sustainable innovations for a future where gender equality prevails. She provided the audience with information on embracing equity, the necessity for balance in women-owned firms, and the need of small businesses participating in the discussions surrounding sustainable innovation for a future of gender equality.
DR. Folashade Coker, Director, I.S., LIRS, addressed the audience on the role of the government in achieving a gender equal future. She spoke to the women who have the resources available to help other women who lack mentorship or direct contact rise to the occasion. She also discussed how both the government and the general public can contribute to the realization of a gender equal future in Nigeria right now.
The third presentation was given by Omon Aneinh-Mordi, CEO of the DEW Center, who spoke about sustainable well-being strategies for women in business, tips for achieving the growth mindset for women in business, and how the mindset can be cultivated. She also taught businesswomen how to balance personal and professional responsibilities while maintaining their health. Rotimi Peters, Head of Operations at SME100AFRICA, spoke to the attendees about the pitch grants and announced the qualified participants for the pitch grants competition.
The event was brought to a close by Ume-Ezeoke Stephanie, who gave the vote of thanks and made the closing remark.
