The maiden edition of the #PadUpAGirl Campaign organized by the 100 Women & 100 Talks desk of SME 100 Africa held on Friday, 27th May 2022. The outreach took place in the Ajegunle Community of Lagos in collaboration with the Dreams From the Slum Initiative, Team Dima Global, Panda Media and Agbeyo Visuals.
To commemorate World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2022, over 100 adolescent girls from ages 12-19 were imparted through menstrual hygiene education, capacity development session, speed-mentoring session, demonstration session, heart-to-heart conversations and questions and answer session between facilitators and the girls. Side attractions were not missing, as the girls were engaged in dance competition and other light-hearted events that put smiles on the faces of everyone who participated.
To wrap up the outreach, each girl received a package with sanitary towels, toilet soaps, COVID-19 relief materials, refreshments and the 2021 edition of the 100 Talks 25under25 magazine.
This is the first of many, as the #PadUpAGirl Campaign looks to empower & impact adolescent girls in underserved communities in Lagos state and beyond, and is open to donations, collaboration and partnerships from sister non-profits and social enterprises.
